Real life inspiration -How to have self confidence and self respect in life.

“Down in their hearts, wise men know this truth: the only way to help yourself is to help others”.
Elbert Hubbard

Dear friend,

Welcome to my blog, as my blog “THEME” is on “stress management in day to day life”, today I will try to elucidate the scientific, psychological and spiritual advantages of helping those people, who cannot repay you in case or kind.
Real life experiences are source of real life inspiration. As we know experience is the best teacher. In the context of given Title, I would like to share my personal experience. In year 2003, I was chief insurance medical officer at ESIS dispensary Halol, Panchmahal district. I was staying at Baroda with my friend, who was doing his MS (General Surgery).we usually meet in evening hours for dinner and having routine discussion of clinical cases and current issues. On one fine day we come across with one patient who was having history of severe burns. My friend who was posted in plastic surgery was looking after that patient. Burns patient are at highest risk of developing hospital acquired infection and these patient need higher antibiotics for curing and controlling their wound infection. Patient was not from sound economic background and was in desperate need for one life injection known as Injection Xtum.We tried a lot to manage these injections from different sources but couldn’t able to arrange that injection. Finally I have taken the responsibility and sponsored the injection. It was my first experience of helping any needy patient.

One of famous and well known psychiatrist of U.S.A in his speech was asked,”What would you advise someone if you knew that person was going to have a nervous breakdown?” The audience expected psychiatrist to advise counseling, medicines and hospitalizating the patient. But he didn’t .He said,”I would advise that person to go the other side of town, find someone in need and help that person. By doing that, we get out of own way, don’t we?” Helping other without expectations, gives you feeling of gratification and raises one’s self –respect, pride and confidence in yourself.
Whenever we do some positive work in our life even no one is watching us but still we are raising our self-esteem and rises in our own eyes. Self esteem is nothing but what we feel about ourselves, confidence in your worth or abilities. Our feeling and attitude of helping others are two sides of same coin. When we do good, we feel good and when we feel good, we do good. If anybody wants to build high self-esteem quickly, one of the best ways is to do some task and activities for those who cannot repay you in cash or kind.Accomplisment of such task will give you a sense of well-being, positivity and feeling of happiness. It opens the new spiritual dimension of life and gives a positive psychological boost.

In psychological terms when you act in way, that benefits others, there is release of one the most important chemical in your brain i.e. serotonin. It is most important neurotransmitters for maintaining positive outlook in life. When we dedicate our self to cause beyond ourselves and our own benefit, basically we are enhancing the release of serotonin. This could be the reason why high profile businessman, celebrity and film stars turning to charity and kindness after achieving the grand success in life.
I have meet many individuals and organization who are accomplishing many philanthropic and social welfare task, like organizing blood donation camp, volunteering flood relief or assisting the poor school children in their studies or helping cancer patients. When I ask them what their feeling is and experience while doing such task? They simply replied, they feel good while performing such activities and make them more motivated and happy than usual day to day acivites.many of them have accepted and experienced the some positive vibrations and feeling in their life.

 Life is beautiful game of give and take business. In these planets you will come across two types of personalities. Givers and Takers. Takers have mastery in eating well and Givers have gift of sleeping well. Givers have positive attitude towards life, have high self esteem and at whatever place and time they will try to contribute to the society. Again one important thing that I would like to remind you, if you are helping someone and expecting something in return, you are doing business not kindness.Confidentility is the soul of such acts and publicity is poison. Such task should be done silently without highlighting yourself and without any public gesture. When such activities are integrated and merged with routine assignment of yoga, meditation, fast, reading inspirational book, practing mourn, silence and reading spiritual books on life lessons, then I surely assure you that it will definitely boost your will, zeal and happiness in life. It will add a new philanthropic dimension to your life. It will enhance your positivity and self confidence in this beautiful journey of life. Whenever we help others we are getting positive spiritual vibrations and energy. Choice is yours! The joy and happiness one experiences cannot be described in terms of words. Lastly I would like to end the article with the following well known quote,
“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand knows what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”
(Matthew 6:3-4) Jesus
