Nine tips to fight against “COVID-19”
Today was my last day in the Intensive care unit (ICU) of COVID – 19 1200 Bed civil hospital, Ahmedabad. Here everyday, every hour, every minute and every second throws you a new challenge. In the hospital setup from the doctor to ward boy, everyone is at professional risk and hazard of developing the infection.

But all of us here working hard with full dedication, devotion, and determination to save the lives of the patient. Dear friends, I was assigned the task, responsibility, and accountability of all patients in the O4 I.C.U (Intensive care unit) to look after clinical and technical management as a floor manager in all 4 (A, B, C, D) wings.

I would like to share one of my professional experiences of one particular critical day. The last Monday during my duty hours, one patient on a ventilator is suddenly deteriorating, and on sharp clinical examination by our team of resident doctors and staff nurses we found and noticed that there were some technical problems in the ventilator. As I was floor manager of the ICU, the issue was brought to my notice. Looking at the scenario, circumstances, and tough situation I got perplexed, pressurized, and thinking what to do next….or act? I was in tense situations and critical circumstances at that moment. As you know ventilator is life line ( Sanjivini) for terminal ill patient. It’s was critical and sensitive issue regarding life and death of patient. Previously I have worked in many ICU and critical settings but this situation is somewhat different..! But with God’s grace, presence of mind, and sense of humor I have decided to call a Biomedical engineer and discussed the problem in detail.

I have talked and requested him to address the issue on a top priority basis. It took some time for the technician (Approximately 11 minutes) to reach the site but finally, the technical issue was resolved and fortunately, the patient was saved. It was a nice, delightful and wonderful experience to help the patients in dire need. This is all about ICU.(You may also like Nine tips to fight against “COVID-19”)Our next job is to report exact bed occupied and vacant in ICU to other doctors in hospital. This information was helping in shifting of critical patient from from Triage ( Emergency) and other ward to ICU.
“Do good and it will come to you in an unexpected way”- unknown.

Dear reader, it’s my personal observation and attention that here everyone from senior-most consultant, resident, interns, staff nurse, paramedic staff to ward boys were working hard to save the lives of every indoor patient. I mean to say that everyone is giving 100 percent by risking their lives through working in a highly infectious zone. I would like to request and advise the following self-protective measures to whosoever is reading this message.
1.Use facemask and practice social distancing. 2. Pranayama, meditation and yoga on routine basis would be of great help. 3.Limit or restrict the use of news channels.Watch for some time only and from authentic source.Dont repeatedly chase and change news channel. You are not watching and following cricket match scores or ups and downs in the stock market. 4.Just follow your passion or hobby, so that you may be more creative, more energetic and your mind and body get occupied with something positive, something inspirational, something motivational…! This is all about my Covid 19 1200 experience.
