“Knowledge is power, but applied knowledge is superpower”.

Dear friends as “COVID 19” has been progressive in many part of world. My aim is to write down the post from psychological, mental, medical and Ayurvedic perspective to create general awareness and give psychological and moral boost to my readers.

I am working at B.J.Medical college, Ahmedabad, Gujarat,India as faculty in Public health.Looking at the present scenario and circumstances,we are asked to get ready to manage the patient of COVID 19 in isolation ward and ICU (Intensive care units). We are on “war footing”mode and while writing this post many of my physician, anasthetist, staff nurse and paramedic staff are constantly busy and engaged in treatment of patients. ( i.e.management of “COVID 19 “patient). Some of the key points that I would like to discuss and highlight in this emergency situation are.
1.During such calamity, many people are under lots of physical and mental stress. Best strategies to deal with the stress is to focus on simple diet, light weight exercise, regular sleep.During such adverse situation and circumstances there is increase in levels of various stress hormone like cortisol, epinephrine and etc.Deep breathing exercise (Pranayam),Anulom vilom Pranayam and meditation (upto 30 minutes) would be of great help to counter and fight stress and boost your immune system.

2.As per Advice and Guidelines of Health Experts, Nutritionist, international Health organisations, diet rich in fruits, vegetables and intake of citrus food should be supplemented as they are rich in micronutrients, vitamins and antioxidant, which will help to boost your immunity, strengthen and enhance body’s defence system. Also increase the frequency of water intake.Herbs like Garlic, Ginger and Tulsi( Holy basil) when consumed with tea and other hot drink has good role in uplifting immunity.

3.First and foremost thing is to protect yourself. There is new modality in public health👉 i.e. “Prevention is the only cure”.Use of facemask when you move outside the house, maintain strict and stringent social distancing, frequent hand washing upto 20 seconds with soap and water or use hand sanitizer. While coughing or sneezing cover you face with handkerchief or use tissue paper (discard it safely). If you have fever, dry cough and difficult in breathing kindly call “COVID-19 help line” or consult your physician.Kindly avoid self medication.
4.Focus on your immunity, psychological, mental and emotional health. If possible, kindly avoid or moderate or restrict the use of television, net surfing of information related virus because we already know and well versed about most of things.Atleast watch the news related to “COVID 19” from authentic source for 30 minutes to know highlights and situation in your area and country.Don’t see repeatedly the number of cases and death,as your are not watching cricket match or following stock market.

5.Avoid forwarding of “life threatening messages and images” to your what’s groups as everyone has not strong will power and mental strength to handle the situation.
6.If possible during free hours, listen to any soothing music, read any inspirational, motivational and spiritual book. One can also play indoor games with children or get involved with them in story telling.

7.Remember most important thing that your optimistic attitude and positive thinking will boost your immunity and vice Versa. Its a Psychoneuroimmunology i.e. Effect of psyche and mood on your body defence system.
8.last but not least remember there is great saying “This is too pass”.
Be positive,Be optimistic and Be safe.

9. Don’t forget to share this information with your near and dear ones.

“The health of the people is really the foundation upon which all their happiness and all their powers as a State depend.”

  1. Tip #10: For God sake listen to scientists and stop having gatherings! In Canada, Ontario just went into another lockdown because it’s getting worse. We’re far behind other countries when it comes to vaccinations. Our response has been pretty sad.

  3. What has been best for my mental health, is staying away from news reports. I am very careful for my sources. I also get outside as much as possible and away from technology. My heart and mind is much peaceful that way.
