“Yesterday is history.Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”

-Eleanor Roosevelt

Welcome divine soul to my journey of inspiration, motivation, and self-help. Recently I have gone through an interesting book on time management written by Kevin Kruse. Kevin is a New York Times bestselling author and entrepreneur who went from “crazy busy” and prosperous, eventually building several multimillion-dollar businesses.

His book is a productivity guide and based on solid fundamentals and groundwork with interviews with billionaires, millionaires, entrepreneurs, Olympic athletes, and straight-A students.

This book begins with personal time management issues Kevin faced in his personal and professional life and how he came out of time management challenges of today’s challenging worlds. Now I am sharing with you 15 keys of time management based on solid research and so be with till the end of this write-up. Let’s start!

Secret # 1

Time is your most valuable and scarcest resource.

In chapter one, the author focus on 1440 minutes and 86400 seconds. he means to say that each one of us has these minutes in 24 hours. Based on the advice and suggestions of his Facebook page followers, Writer advises one should use every single minute judiciously in productive activities like

water a plant, Exercise, pranayama a, yoga, meditation, write a thank you note, sing a song, write in journal, write three things you are grateful for, make a decision to give up smoking, smile, give a donation, take a photo that will turn your memory, recall happy movement, etc.

Secret # 2

Identify your Most Important Task (MIT) and work on it each day before doing anything else.

In the chapter, Kevin is asking and advising his readers to give focus and energy to tasks and activities that will lead to goal achievement.

Secret # 3

work from your calendar, not a to-do list

According to an interview of different highly successful writers he observed and investigated that successful people don’t have a do list, but they do have a very well kept calendar and most of the important tasks and activities are scheduled in advance which leads to free your mind, reduce stress and increase cognitive performance.

Secret # 4

Procrastination can be overcome when you figure out how to beat yourself, who cannot be trusted to do the right thing.

Procrastination is the habit of putting off important, less pleasurable tasks by doing easier, more pleasurable tasks. Things like Email, Twitter, Facebook, food, and television are the best ways to procrastinate.

Secret # 5

Accept the fact that there will always be more to do and more than can be done.

Author says there is always be more to do in every area of life like you can always do more stuff at work, you can always do more yard work and etc. So you need to master the practice of letting go of the more, since there will always be more to do.

Secret # 6

Always carry a Notebook.

Kevin in his sixth chapter talks about importance of having a notebook in life and talks about jotting down important points. In one interview of Kevin with Richard Branson, Branson says “if you have a thought but don’t write it down, by the next morning it may be gone forever.”

  1. Great review, Prakash. I like the idea of scheduling things in advance. I tend to do that, making time for things I need to do and also want to do, prioritising my time accordingly and giving each thing I do full attention.
