The Sky Gets Dark, Slowly
Mao Dun literary prize winner Zhou Daxin’s latest novel to be published, “The Sky Gets Dark, Slowly”, is a sensitive exploration of old age and the complex, hidden emotional worlds of the elderly in a rapidly ageing population.

In it he writes, “…Many elderly speak as though they know everything, but of old age they are in fact as ignorant as children. Many elderly are in fact, completely unprepared for what they are to face when it comes to getting old and the road that lays ahead of them.

In the time between a person turning 60 years old, as they begin to age, right until all the lights go out and the sky gets dark, there are some situations to keep in mind, so that you will be prepared for what is to come, and you will not panic.

1.
The people by your side will only continue to grow smaller in number. People in your parents’ and grandparents’ generation have largely all left, whilst many your peers will increasingly find it harder to look after themselves, and the younger generations will all be busy with their own lives. Even your wife or husband may depart earlier than you, or than you would expect, and what might then come are days of emptiness. You will have to learn how to live alone, and to enjoy and embrace solitude.

Society will care less and less for you. No matter how glorious your previous career was or how famous you were, ageing will always transform you into a regular old man and old lady. The spotlight no longer shines on you, and you have to learn to contend with standing quietly in one corner, to admire and appreciate the hubbub and views that come after you, and you must overcome the urge to be envious or grumble.

The road ahead will be rocky and full of precarity. Fractures, cardio-vascular blockages, brain atrophy, cancer… these are all possible guests that could pay you a visit any time, and you would not be able to turn them away. You will have to live with illness and ailments, to view them as friends, even; do not fantasise about stable, quiet days without any trouble in your body. Maintaining a positive mentality and get appropriate, adequate exercise is your duty, and you have to encourage yourself to keep at it consistently.

Prepare for bed-bound life, a return to the infant state. Our mothers brought us into this world on a bed, and after a journey of twists and turns and a life of struggle, we return to our starting point – the bed – and to the state of having to be looked after by others. The only difference being, where we once had our mothers to care for us, when we prepare to leave, we may not have our kin to look after us. Even if we have kin, their care may never come close to that of your mother’s; you will, more likely than not, be cared for by nursing staff who bear zero relation to you, wearing smiles on their faces all whilst carrying weariness and boredom in their hearts. Lay still and don’t be difficult; remember to be grateful.

There will be many swindlers and scammers along the way. Many of them know that the elderly have lots of savings, and will endlessly be thinking of ways to cheat them of their money: through scam phone calls, text messages, mail, food and product samples, get-rich-quick schemes, products for longevity or enlightenment… basically, all they want is to get all the money. Beware, and be careful, hold your money close to you. A fool and his money are soon parted, so spend your pennies wisely.

Before the sky gets dark, the last stretches of life’s journey will gradually get dimmer and dimmer; naturally, it will be harder to see the path ahead that you are treading towards, and it will be harder to keep going forward. As such, upon turning 60, it would do us all well to see life for what it is, to cherish what we have, to enjoy life whilst we can, and to not take on society’s troubles or your children’s and grandchildren’s affairs on for yourself. Stay humble, don’t act superior on account of your own age and talk down to others – this will hurt yourself as much as it will hurt others. As we get older, all the better should we be able to understand what respect is and what it counts for. In these later days of your lives, you have to understand what it means, to let go of your attachments, to mentally prepare yourself. The way of nature is the way of life; go with its flow, and live with equanimity.

Hardly the day started and … it is already six o’clock in the evening.

Barely arrived on Monday and it’s already Friday.

… and the month is almost over.
… and the year is almost up.
… and already 50 or 60 or 70 years of our lives have passed.
… and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.
and we realize that it is too late to go back …

So … Let’s try to take full advantage of the time we have left …
Let’s not stop looking for activities that we like …
Let’s put color in our greyness …
Let’s smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.

And yet, we must continue to enjoy serenely the time that remains.
Let’s try to eliminate the “after” …
I do it after …
I will say after …
I will think about it after …
We leave everything for ‘later’ as if “after” was ours.

Because what we do not understand is that:
after, the coffee cools …
after, priorities change …
after, the charm is broken …
after, health passes …
after, the children grow up …
after, the parents get older …
after, the promises are forgotten …
after, the day becomes the night …
after, life ends …
And all that afters, we find it’s often too late ….

So … leave nothing for ‘later’ …
Because in always waiting for later, we can lose the best moments,
the best experiences,
the best friends,
the best family …
The day is today … The moment is now …

We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone until tomorrow what needs to be done right away.

So let’s see if you’ll have time to read this message and then share it.

It is unclear why people with encouraging thinking experience such benefits. The various health, medical and mental advantages of optimistic thinking are
1. They inspire themselves as well as other people around them. Studies reveal that they have increased life span, lower rates of psychological and mental disorders like depression, anxiety, phobia etc.

2. Positive thinking inculcates the sense of very high self esteem, self-confidence and self respect. They have better coping skill and will-power in stressful situation and adverse circumstances of life (e.g. failure,dealth of near and dear ones,etc)
3. They have good decision making and problem solving approach in life and make rational decisions.

4. Positive thinking and optimistic attitude makes you pleasing personality at workplace and social circles.
5. They have greater resistance to many infections and at lesser risk of developing many diseases like hypertension and Diabetes etc.

7. Positive thinking gives fulfilment and makes life worth and meaningful. It reduces stress and increases happiness in personal, social and professional life. It enhances teamwork and better relationship at workplace.

Experts, life coach, psychologist, psychiatrist and spiritual leaders recommend and suggest the following tips to incorporate positiveness in life. They are

1. Regular practice of meditation, pranayam, yoga would be of great help.
2. Any light physical activity like walking or cycling.
3. Follow regular diet schedule from morning breakfast to dinner.
4. Avoid smoking and alchol.If someone is addicted then must seek the help of qualified psychiatrist, psychologist or behaviour modulator.

Welcome to my blog, as my blog theme is “Science, spiritual, yoga, meditation and inspirational thinking”. Today I will going to talk about one of the most important aspect of human life i.e. Happiness and Stress. As we know that life is full of Ups and Downs. Our life can be compared with ECG (Electrocardiogram) which has crest and trough. Crest can be compared with happiness in life and trough can be equated with the stressful situations in life. As you carefully study the ECG, both crest and trough are essential for survival and existence and a plain line is merely indicates a lifeless condition or death. So today I will going to share you about some of the important tips on stress management.
Stress is inevitable part of life and everyone has to face it.
How to do stress management in day to day life and have happiness…..?
Volumes and volumes of books, journals and online literature talks about stress but very few sources gives an idea, method and techniques about how to overcome and tackle the stress in life. Some of the valuable tips and important keys that we can use in our day to day life to counter stress and have happiness in life are.
 Time Management-Time is like river which flows continuously without waiting for anyone. It’s like money which is to be invested smartly otherwise it will go wasted. Whatever the task you want to accomplish whether it’s short-term or long term task, we have to allocate the time accordingly and have to complete the assignment in give time limit. Smart and Meticulous time management will eliminate and exterminate most of problems created by day to day stress.

 Role of Physical Exercise and sports -One must perform some amount of physical exercise.E.g walking and cycling. Walking is one of the best exercises to relieve day to day stress. It is scientifically proved that because of walking there is release of various excitatory neurotransmitters like epinephrine,nor-ephinephrine,dopamine and serotonine.Which elevates the mood and it will also give some sense of completion of task. It will also improve systemic circulation, controls blood sugar, blood pressure and help to reduce weight.

 Try to give some small levels of Philanthropic services/Donate some hours of your life for self less social services without any thing expecting back -Sometimes it’s difficult to do big task of social services or it is not feasible. But all of us can definitely do some sort of small assignment, activities and task that will surly helps the society and on long run it will help us to counter stress. For example volunteering a multi-diagnostic camp or blood donation camp in your area or giving your humanitarian services in natural calamities like earth quake, cyclone, flood etc.

 The concept behind this task is that when you help others by means of donations, volunteering or providing your expertise services there is feeling of happiness in your mind and a sense of satisfaction in your deep heart and surely you will get positive vibrations from nature that would encourages you and makes you happy in life and relieves your tension. So Do something for others who cannot repay you in cash and kind.
The cosmic world operates through dynamic law of give and take or you can say a law of exchange. In physics there is most fundamental laws of motion known’s as Newton’s law of motion. As Newton’s second law of motion say that “Every action in this world has equal and opposite reaction”. In the same way giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. By doing philanthropic activity you are raising your own self-esteem and getting more positive vibrations.

 Change is the rule of life and Try to accept changes-Meaning is that change is inevitable in our life and it is constant in nature.  One must remind them self that this world is full of selfish people. They do not praise others without any selfish motive. This world is full of a person who shows their different color according to their need and circumstances. People may praise you today because of your power, position, achievement, social status; background etc.But as soon as you lose these materialistic achievement, people would start criticizing you. Do not crave for publicity or try to highlight yourself. Do your job honestly and leave rest to god.
 Do not be jealous-Many times we experience jealous in our life. Many times we work harder than our colleagues in our company or business but they get promotions, we do not. Should we develop the attitude of jealous? We must remember one thing in life is that, law of karma is most essential in tackling such circumstances or situations. Bhagvat Geeta say that “everbody’s life is shaped by his previous sanchit karma, that has now become his destiny”. Nothing can be gained by criticizing or blaming others for your hard luck. Do your best and rest of things and outcome should be leave it to god.
 Understand and accept your limitations-Try to accept your responsibilities according to your capacity and know your limitations.

Dear friends,welcome to the world of “science and inspiration”.Many times in life we have to work as team member but sometimes in life we have the lead the group,team or cause and work as team leader.After carefully studying and analysing the life history of many transformational leader, i have noticed seven qualities of most successful leaders of the world.Today l will try to discuss and brainstorm about these qualities.
“Leadership is not power, dominance, social superiority or anything suggestive of snobbery. Leadership is influence on people, not power over them.”

Effective and strategic leadership is essential for success of any organization like (e.g. corporate, government, social, N.G.O, religious,institute, campaign and movement).

-The aim of leadership is to achieve the Goals, targets and objectives of an organization.

Person becomes the leader or assign the critical role of “leadership” according to demand of situation, circumstances, need of an organization,to promote or revolt any cause.There are many qualities of leaders which are essential for success of any organization but among them following are most crucial for achieving the success.
1. They have good expert power,subject knowledge (specialize knowledge,skills, critical information) and referent power (personal characteristics that leader possess for his followers and see him as their role model)

2. They create the vision of an organization,make followers to realize and achieve the vision in mission mode. They lift organizational member vision to higher sights,raise performance to higher standards. There main aim is directing and coordinating group activities.They influence the behavior of others in positive way and channelize the energy of their subordinate to 100% for success of an organization.

3. They have very good communication,listening,interpersonal skills.They work and deal well with all types of people in an organization.
4. They have very good “presence of mind” and “sense of humor” in any situation and circumstances.True leaders are “down to earth” and well versed with the “ground reality” of the cause, organization or movement.

5. They have fair,balanced and rational decision making and never take sides.
6. There are different types of leadership. One is leadership of position (where leader hold official position to give orders and instructions).second is leadership of personality (where leader hold forceful personal and extraordinary characteristics and attitude) and third is one,which is crucial to success of an organization is functional (which is one where leader has good position and excellent personality)
7. Respect juniors as much as seniors. leader has high self confidence,self esteem and is ready to admit his limitations and errors.Most Impressing about their leadership style is that in case of victory and success they give credit to their team members and in case of failure they held themselves responsible.

Leadership means influencing and energizing the action of others and brings about transformational change in the life of people and existence of an organization in direction of Goal.Lastly I would like to end this article with famous quote of

“Terry”- The leadership qualities are “energy,emotional stability,knowledge of human realtions,personal motivation,communication skills,teaching skills,social skills and technical competence.”
